Personal Childhood Web

This Page is dedicated especially to the people who nurtured and cared about me when I was a child

1.  My Father - Harley Shafer Boyles.   I suppose everyone must put their parents in a place like this.  I however did not have the best relationship with my father.  At age 17 he put me in the hospital for two days by throwing a shovel at me.  He could be very violent at times but time he became physically abusive.  That is the worst of it though.  For a long time I hated my father for what he was and what he did to me.  However at sometime during my 20's, I began to really appreciate one overriding factor about him, "he spent a lot of time with me!"  From him I learned to love to read.  I learned a love for the outdoors and outdoor sports.  I went everywhere with him.  My father passed away in 1996 but I feel that much of what I am is because of who he was.

2. My Mother - Jean Francis Boyles (Kiehl).  My mother was a special person but sometimes I think she was very confused about life.  She did have a big impact on my life but in a more subtle way than my father.  She taught me to love games and to love learning.  When I needed to talk about stuff she ways always there to listen.  She taught me about God and the ways to live for him.  My mom passed away in 2006.

3.  My Sister - Dixie Jean Dickson (Boyles).  Dixie is my oldest sister and is 10 years older than I am.  When she was around when I was young she always was fun to be around.  She played with me and took care of Me and my younger sister.   My sister has some issues and she no longer has any contact with me or my family.

4. My Sister - Peggy Lee Gary (Boyles) .  Peggy is my next oldest sister and is 8 years older.  She was the pain.  She always picked on my and even tried trading me for a pigHowever when I needed her to help me she came through.  I will never forget what she did.  We still keep in touch and talk often and she mostly needs encouraging from me.

5. My Friend - Blaine Spears .  Blaine was my best friend through grade school, junior high and high school.  We played, worked and got in trouble together.  He had some awesome parents that really where nice when I was around them.  I have not seen my friend or heard from him since 1974.

Honorable Mention -  Carol Sue Maratich (Boyles).  Otherwise known as Susie, she is my little sister.  We fought like cats and dogs until we were in high school, but we were very close.  For a while we were not close but in the last 5 years we have renewed our sibling relationship.
